Wearing masks has been mandatory for a couple of months now in Quebec but the government is stepping up the measures taken and will hand fines, expected to range between $400 and $6,000, to those who defy the COVID-19 public health recommendations. Karaoke was also banned this week after one event at a Quebec City bar led to an outbreak of more than 80 cases.
PM Legault went as far as asking people to call 911 if they see something out of line. Quebec’s COVID-19 cases and death toll remain the highest in Canada despite all the measures taken so far.
